Bayard's Blue Bar: Bayard’s is like a Jekyll and Hyde of classy establishments. In the daytime it’s the India House, one of the oldest private clubs in the country. Come nightfall Bayard’s opens its doors to people who actually work during the day. With the classic maritime styling, a comfortably elegant atmosphere, and on most nights a piano player in the corner, Bayard’s offers one of the most unique and classy experiences in New York. Stepping into Bayard’s is like looking way back into America’s colonial, er, past. (No political debates please—this may not be a bar, but it is a bar guide!) Anyway, all that culture will cost you, but with an enticing menu, and a wine list with nearly 1,500 choices, chances are you’ll find something you won’t mind paying for. |
