Barocco Café: With changes to its signage, seating and menu, Danny Emerman’s Barocco Cafe has undergone a subtle, albeit sexified revamping. Patrons are mostly young, often-pierced, Chelsea folk that like to gather at the extended bar for a glass of robust Pino Nero or Uva di Troia ($7-$10) and a plate of creamy porcini-flecked lasagna. Barocco still serves light breakfasts with hits like creamy oatmeal with berries ($6), and Italian sandwiches laden with arugula, mozzarella and an herby mayo ($8) for lunch. The party doesn’t get going until the food selections dwindle to offerings of a few fresh pasta dishes ($15-$17) and platters of smoked and cured meats ($14). The minimal, washed-wood décor borders on stark by day, but at night all lightly aglow, the modern seating along one mirrored wall exudes a slick simplicity. Open daily 8am-midnight.
