Barna, in the basement of the Hotel Giraffe, fashions itself an underground lounge, but that’s only compared to its in-your-face Park Avenue South neighbors like Dos Caminos and Sushi Samba. The crowd here is flashy, blending Europeans with young sexy financiers dressed like Europeans. DJs spin ambient beats while white leather booths, which are mostly reserved for invisible parties, tease patrons enjoying their signature sangria cocktails. If you do get a table, order a bottle off their extensive Spanish wine list and be sure to sample their highly rated tapas cuisine. In warmer months, street-side outdoor seating and a 12th-floor red brick rooftop attracts even more deep-pocketed drinkers who like to pair their wine with a cigarette and a hot city night.
