Keeping track of the gentrification of Brooklyn? Add another notch to the belt my friend, as Bar Tano has officially opened on Gowanus' quietly transforming 3rd Ave. With tin walls and bright lighting, it could double as a post-work drink spot in Soho, but one look at the patrons and you'll know you're not in Manhattan anymore. Guests range from artsy underage-looking youths to thirty-something men in suits. One thing you won't find here: twenty-five-year-old analysts in striped shirts and blazers (thank you, Brooklyn!). Take a seat at the bar on one of the diner-style stools, and try one of the 30 wines by the glass. Had a long night already? They've got a solid selection of small plates perfect for taking "the edge off" after one-too-many drinks. Just sleek enough to count as a neighborhood "upgrade," but not too snotty, Bar Tano is a solid bet.
