Bar Tabac:
The full late-night menu, free foosball table, and oh-so-convenient location near the F line help Bar Tabac stand out among Boerum Hill’s myriad other French bistros. The bar area feels spacious for a restaurant, especially when the windows and doors are flung open in warm weather, and post-dinner rush, drinkers are often encouraged to take an indoor or sidewalk table. The hip but friendly vibe, with live jazz on Wednesdays, Sunday brunch, and the fine selection of French wines and aperitifs make the bar here a worthy destination in itself—although you’d do well to have some mussels and fries with your Sancerre. It’s a big draw for the neighborhood’s French population, so don’t be surprised to find dogs or baby carriages in the bar at midnight.
