Bar Stuzzichini: This cavernous enoteca is yet another attempt to reincarnate the Italian vino bar stateside; albeit in the culturally dry Flatiron area. Bar Stuzzichini specializes in (big surprise) the Italian art of stuzzichini, of course. Wait, what's that? Ah! Yummy little tastes of different appetizers. The owners have imported the concept, along with a special tasting menu that they pair with wines from nine regions of Southern Italy. Saddle up to the marble-topped stuzzichini bar and order up a “quartino,” that’s Italian for quarter liter, and slightly more than a single glassful, or a signature Sgroppino (prosecco lemon sorbet with fresh mint) to cool down on hot night. Can New Yorkers really abandon their Bud Lights and sliders long enough to give this trend a chance? We think so. Look what happened to tapas, and as Madonna's shirt once read, "Italians Do It Better!" |
