Bar Boulud:
Bring your darts and order a round of shots: Daniel Boulud's opened a bar! OK, so this one may not be for the Upper West Side frat crowd, but Bar Boulud is the Daniel restauranteur's attempt to bring his brand of poshness to The People. Expect the ultimate French charcuterie and wine bar, but don't expect to saunter in without a reservation. The restaurant's tunnel shape makes this space feel tresmodern. The cavernous space, the stone and gravel winery detailing, and the private rooms downstairs may even make you forget about the closet-sized apartment waiting for you back home. Grab a seat at the shared table in the back, perfect for hobnobbing and wine tasting. Added bonus: the staff here can actually recommend a good wine, and many of them are reasonably priced. Bar Boulud is very see-and-be-seen, so break out your designer duds and indulge in some top-notch people-watching. Expect a wait even if you do have reservations, since people tend to linger at their tables, soaking up the elegant ambiance and their own sense of self importance.
