Bar @ Etats-Unis is very West Village—tiny, trendy, and high-end. Located across the street from its almost equally small sister restaurant, this place has no awning to advertise its whereabouts. Patrons come for the wine and the menu, a unique combination of French, American, and Mexican fare. With a wine selection over 250 bottles deep, you’ll have no trouble finding a Bordeaux to wash down your duck confit. Bartenders whip up lip-smacking caipirinhas and mojitos, and you just might die of pleasure if you couple one with the house guacamole. If you’d like to get a little tipsy, be prepared to spend—cocktails range from $8 to $15. And get there early, because the place fills up fast.
