Bar 288 (Tom & Jerry's)
What’s happened to the good ol’ days, when any afternoon you could walk into your regular watering hole and find the friendly neighborhood drunks sharing their post-lunch, pre-dinner pints? As NoHo and NoLita succumb to the same forces that have turned Greenwich Village into less of a village and more of a scene, there are increasingly few places where you can at least imagine that everybody knows your name. Despite its cavernous size and the massive projector screen at one end of the room, this place maintains much of that brothers-in-drinking feel. This charm is partly due to the large collection of old “Tom & Jerry” crockery that lines the wall behind the bar. Though there is a cat that prowls the premises, these actually refer to an old egg-based cocktail, not the cartoon. Oh, and prepare to meet some of the nicest bartenders in town when you pop in for the Monday-Friday, 5pm-7pm happy hour. Open daily noon-4am.

I've been a regular for MANY years...

Tom and Jerry's still has the coolest bartenders in town with reasonable drink prices.
I think you just have to look at the time and date that "Guest" posted his review on 1/25/09. A Saturday morning at 1am! Me thinks someone left the bar lonely and frustrated!!!!!!

Good place for small groups to meet

Been visiting T&J's periodically for over ten years. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Maybe the previous poster went on an off night--this is still my favorite place to go for a laid back evening and the bartenders are some of the nicest in town!

In an economy where the service industry needs to go above and beyond to stay in competition, Tom & Jerry's is slipping leaving much to be desired.
