Back Forty: It's an old cliché that success breeds success. But mega success? We’ll just have to wait until Bill Gates impregnates Oprah and see if that little genius mogul takes over the world or ends up with a bundle a day smack habit. For now Peter Hoffman, the talent behind SoHo's uber-trendy Savoy, makes his own run at mega success with his anthropomorphic procreation of Back Forty. Whether or not it’ll reach “Gatephry” success, who knows, but Hoffman certainly knows how to get the young and the well dressed into a restaurant (the attractive staff helps). This swank eatery would be better referred to as the Local Meeterie, given that everyone is cramming an elbow to get in. Traffic at the bar was six deep since day one. Save room for the tasty combos like Maine shrimp and bacon beignets and grass-fed beef burgers that bring out the comfort food-craving animal in everyone. Everything goes well with a Back Forty cocktail (a whiskey sour in disguise), though you'll have to fight the masses at the bar to get one. Open Mon-Thu. 6-11pm, Fri. 6pm-midnight, Sat. noon-3pm and 6pm-midnight, Sun. noon-3:30pm and 6-10pm.
