Anotheroom could be “any room,” considering the bar is kept so dimly lit it’s hard to see what’s in front of you. However, this only adds to the mysterious and enveloping atmosphere with a suggestive early ’90s appeal, and the hip alternative vibe quickly becomes more intoxicating than a drink ordered from their urban-loft-type bar (this is no knock on their menu, which offers dozens of Euro and domestic brews). Dark taupe drapes hang from the doorway as if to keep unwanted teenyboppers at bay and velvet cushions serve as comfort to the Kurt Cobain and Lisa Loeb fans who come in for a drink. While a candle or two more could help lighten the mood considerably, not to mention provide a more suitable setting for appreciating some of the innovative artwork hung from the walls, Anotheroom pulls off a brooding and intimate setting without falling into the trap of being too swank for its own good.
