Angry Wade's: Over the years, Angry Wade’s has managed to skirt the here-today-gone-tomorrow fate of much of Smith Street’s nightlife by being, simply but defiantly, a typical neighborhood pub. If not smoky, it is dark and often loud, with friendly bartenders and a welcoming atmosphere that invites you, if you so choose, to unleash your inner frat boy over a heated game of pool or darts, in front of a videogame, or before the bar’s several TVs—and you can bet the rock-dominated jukebox will provide the perfect soundtrack. It’s not, however, all noise and games here: The blazing fireplace, free popcorn, and extensive beer selection attract a local crowd just varied enough, thankfully, to keep the place’s testosterone level in check. |
