Amalia
We’re starting to get an Oedipus complex. No, seriously we are. Named after Sigmund Freud’s mother, Amalia dishes nouveau American cuisine with a Mediterranean flair (trust us, it’s good), but that’s not why we love it. It’s all in the ambiance…well, that and a killer wine list including Mediterranean vino from Lebanon, Corsica, Spain, Morocco, Italy, and Sardinia. As the brain child of Greg Brier (Aspen and Groovejet), this therapeutic retreat adjacent to the Dream Hotel boasts chic eye candy like black Murano glass chandeliers, silk chinoiserie wallpaper, and mosaic tile stairs custom-made in Italy. Let’s not forget the carved wooden columns in the portrait gallery -- if you look really closely you can see the silhouette of Freud. And yes, his mom.
