Almoncello: From the same folks who brought us the casual, yet undeniably lively Hamptons staple, Almond in Bridgehampton, comes the Bolognese-inspired Almoncello (formerly the Mexican Almondito). With bottles of wine lining the ceiling, exposed brick, leather booths, and fireplaces, this spot is a rustic, cozy, romantic trattoria with a gracious staff to boot. The stand-outs of the seasonally driven, Northern Italian menu include their olive oil poached monkfish with shellfish compote ($25), the short rib ravioli ($21), and their desserts, which priced at $8, are nothing short of delectable calorific delights (of note is the Nutella ganache mascarpone mousse). A full bar serving up killer martinis ($8-$12) and an Italian-only wine list, along with a covered patio for outdoor seating, make this an ideal place to kick back and enjoy the good life. Note that despite Almoncello’s newcomer status, it already has a loyal following, so reservations are key to avoiding a long wait. |
