Allegretti
You know that peaceful feeling you get when you’re dining on sea scallops in your yacht off the coast of Nice? Yeah, us neither. But we imagine it might be something like eating at Alain Allegretti’s first restaurant, now open in the Flatiron district. Former chef at Le Cirque and an understudy of Jacques Maximin, Alain Chapel, and Alain Ducasse, Allegretti is putting his signature style on authentic Provençale cuisine. In this yacht-y setting consisting of yellow and white paneled walls, marine blue seating, and a teak bar, the Nice native is offering seasonal dishes like tuna niçoise salad with quail egg, braised oxtail ravioli, and duck magret—and the prices, ranging from $14-$38 for entrees—aren’t half bad. An open wood-burning oven is expected to be turning out whole roasted fish soon, but the real bargain should be the $28 three-course pre-fixe lunch, due to start in a few weeks. South of France staycation, here we come. Open Mon.-Fri. 11:45am-2:30pm and 5:30-10:30pm, Sat. 5:30-10:30pm.

my husband and I were there on Friday, I had the duck and he had the Dorade, it was like being back in Nice. The service was excellent and the sparkling Chardonny a new find. This is worth many visits. very brave to open in August. The prices make this a great buy

I was taken to Allegretti and I thought the food was divine!!! I had the Duck Magret which was heavenly. I never order dessert, but after I tried the bittersweet gelato, I had to have some for myself!
