Alexandra:
This small bistro reads like a preserved artifact from the Victorian era. A dark green awning and sidewalk menu invite 20-somethings and couples into the candlelit establishment of faded brick and cherry wood accents. Brunch and dinner menus offer mostly American fare, from tasty paella to surprisingly tender baby back ribs. While Alexandra’s pre-set mixed drinks are worthwhile, the bar is most notable for its custom-made drinks. Try a “Lolita,” a smooth mix of diet cream, sherry, and crushed cherry. Just let the bartender know your favorite base liquor and preferences and he’ll mix a drink to your taste. They don’t do that at Down the Hatch, people.
