Agozar: Agozar is a perfectly decent, vibrant place to go for a sangria or mojito, but there’s nothing that distinguishes it from the handful of Latin-themed places within a five-block radius. It tries to pull off the same feel as Sala up the street, but only half convinces. The tapas are tasty but not as delectable as the always crammed Café Habana. Still, it’s nearly always bustling with East Villagers too lazy to make it past Houston, and the live salsa music even drives some to shake their bon-bon. If you’re going for authenticity, you’re in the wrong place, but if you’re just looking to have a good pitcher of margaritas and some apps, it’s a hell of a lot easier than groveling to get into La Esquina. |
