Agozar
The name is based on a Spanish term meaning "to enjoy oneself,” and if a long, relaxing Spanish meal is your way to achieve that, Agozar is a nice option. The mellow atmosphere is particularly prominent in the small outdoor seating area, filled with East Villagers too sun-stroked to make it past Houston Street. Seats are more abundant in the larger back room, where the tables are long enough to fit you and your entire crew. For the do-it-all New Yorker, the tiny, tasty tapas plates are great way to experience the gamut of Cuban cuisine. The incredible happy hour deals (running from 5-8, as well as after midnight on weekends) and the deliciously potent signature mojitos will surely leave you comfortable enough to shake your bon-bon to the live salsa music that prevails here. So this is a good place to “gozar" as long as you're not in some sort of hurry, because the staff is already as laid-back as you hope to be. Open Mon.-Thu. 5pm-midnight, Fri.-Sat. 5pm-1am, Sun. 5-10pm.

Great Night!

Went there last weekend and was blown away by this Latin Hot spot! They offer a great Happy Hour that includes tapas and great flavored mojitos. The Coconut flavor was our personal favorite. If looking for a great place to have fun and great food and drinks I definitely recommend it.

yuk, never coming back!

Despite my colleagues and most friends dumping the place for a poor attitude I would still come by (close to my job) But I have just about had it with the service here it is unreal!! The way that this place has been losing business over the last year or so ,you would think the service of long time patrons would at least be decent...but we had the worst of our bad nights here on Thurs. Our food was questionable at one point and we mentioned it to the owner ,she flipped out and brought the chef out to embarrass us? She ended up embarrassing herself because the people that were there at the bar dropped money and left and mentioned that they had "issues" with her over her "happy hour" ..and stated this was there last night too. The chef yelled at her and she yelled at the chef then they both yelled at me. We have witnessed so many terrible nights of her treating her people terribly I wonder know how we even returned after witnessing it. The owner thinks she is a princess and her beleaguered brother a prince, the woman is a psycho who should be medicated, flies off the handle for no reason t and seems fires anyone who has any sense of self-respect, while glopping on lip gloss and peeling her sunburned shoulders around her gucci bag strap. (sorry we are angry and this is the extent to what we have witnessed over the years with her and her employees, we thought it was the employees at first but when you see different ones every week, you have to start looking somewhere else for the problem) The food is nothing to rave about anymore, different chef every week or so? , the drinks are getting weaker and I see this place going down the drain. The owners must have another business feeding their family because it looks like they don't give a hoot what happens with this place. The service and people are unbearable. Just close the place already if your heart isn't in it ...instead of serving bad food , drinks
*I have left this reveiw on several sites, although you will notice that SOMEHOW it was later "updated" on a site to say I gave the place a "second" chance?? sorry no dice guys, good try though. Anyone that is this disapointed will not return. Here is a tip though, take hints, change your ways, stop trying to "alter" people's reveiws on your restaurant.

not so great

We came here to eat dinner and meet friends for their "great" happy hour. I see the frustration with this place. I think they think they are "bigger and better" then they really are. We were under the impression because we sat at the side of the bar (for dinner) that we could take part in the happy hour for the last 1/2 hour of our meal .....ok so we were wrong, no biggie we will move to "the bar when we were done..I just had to share with others how rude they were about telling us. WE just spent over $350 on a meal and some drinks. We went to the bar for happy hour and we were not impressed.. The service is way slow there too and not pleasant at all..I am sure no bar owner truly "enjoys" giving you a free drink but why the sour looks ? Don't have a happy hour then, ya know? By the time you get your drinks its over anyway. For dinner we had the grilled steak , vaca frita, empanadas shrimp, tapas ropa vieja, The food was so so,, nothing to rave about., a bit bland and any kick anything had was very "adobe-ey" tasting The tapas weren't fresh, neither was the shrimp or bass. All in all I would not go back for food, however, if you like overly sweet mojitos that are weak as can be this may be your spot, if you can make your way to the bar (way too small and crowded) you can drink them at buy one get one 5-8. My choice would be to go to a shorter happy hour and have a few GOOD drinks and tastier tapas.

Pros: good plantain chips

skip it...

not authentic cuban..we were really disappointed. The service was really bad and very rude. The happy hour is the worst , you wait forever for your drinks. They say it is 5-8pm but it is actually the equivalent to 6-7 because of the (intentional??)slow service. The owners are way too pretentious then they have to be, they make it very clear that they don't need your business. The place gets way too crowded. I have to say the mojitos were ok but not strong at all and they took forever to get to us for happy hour. I would not come back.

Get a pitcher. or four.

Drink specials are unbeatable! But make sure you sit at the bar to take advantage. Menu looked delish (especially if you're looking for legit Cuban) but who cares about food when you can simply order your mojitos by the pitcher and "agozar" the night away?
