Don’t be intimidated by the martini glass on the awning—420 is clean and classy, but still just a bar at heart. Sure, the crowd’s a tad on the button-down side, but karaoke is the modern-day social equalizer, so Wednesday nights are crowded here, as drinkers line up to get their Mariah on. DJs spin on the weekends, and two large areas downstairs frequently play host to private parties or live jazz performances. Touchy-feely couples can find solace in any one of the many discreet nooks of the upstairs lounge. Early in the evening it’s much less of a scene, and $4 well drinks and margaritas served by an attractive bar staff entice the happy hour crowd to keep regular appointments.
