300 New York:
“Bowling as you know it has changed forever.” This grandiose statement suggests Blade Runner meets Big Lebowski; complete with hover balls, obstacles in the lanes, and exploding pins, but alas that is not the change 300 New York, formerly Chelsea Piers Lanes, had in mind. First obviously there’s the name, which they’re either taking advantage of the popularity of the movie 300, where Spartan Warriors will fit you with the correct size bowling shoes and serve you pitchers of beer and onion rings or more plausibly referencing the highest possible score that can be achieved and will never see the light of day in this place. That might be an unfair statement if it weren’t for the sensory show with music and special-effect lighting, creating a total Xtreme bowling experience, pretty much eliminating all chances of picking up that spare. If all that pesky bowling is getting in the way of your drinking and dancin, you can make your way up to The Loft where you can enjoy panoramic views of the center. For those requiring the velvet rope bowling experience, they’ve also added Club 300, a VIP space with eight private lanes, sure to leave anyone here asking themselves why would they put a bowling alley in a nightclub.
