24 Prince: For those disciples of understated style who long to live, or at least socialize, in a Pottery Barn catalogue, this restaurant/bar is a dream come true. Still, after much attention upon opening its nondescript door in 2005, it’s no harder to get a table or spot at the bar here than at the other similar restaurants that litter NoLita. A handsome but dispassionate staff serves up comfort food (think fried chicken and meatloaf), sweet cocktails (think SoCo and mint iced tea), and unexpected wines (think Valpolicella) to hip creative types easily identifiable by their blazer and t-shirt ensembles, $40 glasses, and $150 haircuts. A lot has been made of a semi-secretive downstairs lounge area, but it’s really just a private room with de rigueur red banquettes and a separate bar. Open Mon. 5:30-11pm, Tue.-Thu. and Sun. noon-11pm, Fri.-Sat. noon-midnight.
