The shrimp’s on the barbie and the Coopers is flowing at Eight Mile Creek’s Sunday BBQ in the NoLita outback. In the front bar, chatty bartenders trade friendly barbs with the beer-fueled crowd of Aussies and those who love them, while rugby and soccer matches play out on the overhead TV. The BBQ patio is vintage slacker NoLita (brick walls, an old bicycle, a propped-up surfboard) and it’s the chillest spot in town to nurse a Sunday hangover. Aussie nibbles include kanga skewers with mountain berry ketchup, best enjoyed in the cool-toned restaurant. Later in the evening, the merriment heats up in the dim downstairs lounge, where after a few Fosters, you’ll probably be forgiven for slurring, “That’s not a knoyfe. This is a knoyfe.”
I ate here with my boyfriend last weekend, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was romantic and cosy yet casual, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this place!
