1OAK

Currently enjoying its status as one of the city’s It spots, 1 OAK caters to a high-end clientele, so it should come as no surprise that its doors are one of the toughest to saunter through. Though you’ll likely have to know someone to get in, take your shot by coming early and chatting up the door staff, who usually veer on the friendly side (shocking, we know!). Once inside, you’ll see what all the hype is about as you rub elbows with anyone from Russell Simmons to Janice Dickinson in a space that, unlike many of its peers, rarely gets unbearably crowded. Padded ostrich leather walls are decked out with Darwin’s Origin of Species, and the bar serves (what else) $18 cocktails, but a minimal number of bottle tables means there’s plenty of room to dance. Weekends are less exclusive, considering the regular crowd jet-sets to places like Lily Pond in the Hamptons. Open Tue.-Sat. 10pm-4am.

Good atmosphere. Know someone before trying to get in. Extremely hot women. A little pricey

Im not a model I am tall and skinny wearing Tory Burch and Louboutins and he refused to let me and my sister decked out in Jay Godfrey in. Instead we crashed a private party for Derek Jeter at Marquee and sipped free champagne all night. Thanks Ben, Sam or whatever the f*** your name is

Ben who does the door at One Oak is a total deuchebag. He is a scrawny, chicken-chested, greasy looking, scraggly haired, skinny-jean-and-little-league-baseball-jacket-wearing door twerp who wishes he were Vincent Gallo. He told me I couldn't come in with my sunglasses on. How can someone so utterly tasteless, veto my accessories? I know it's night time but I wear shades to avoid seeing deuche bags like him clearly. Lol. Actually I wear shades 24/7 to protect my eyes, bc my job strains my eyes. What an asshole. I could've taken my shades off to get in, (I wasn't actually wearing them. They were on top of my head) but I didn't want to at that point. What next? He wouldn't like my shoes and I'd have to take them off? What a shallow piece of shit. I'm sure if I showed up with one of my celebrity friends, he'd be tripping all over himself to let us in, shades or no shades. Meanwhile, wearing a jacket of any kind in the summer when its extremely hot out, is much more of a fashion faux pas than wearing glasses and this little slimeball was wearing a polyester, lil league looking, bomber jacket in the 80 degree heat. One Oak will be trendy for another 5 minutes.

Place is nothing but a whore house. Young hot chicks looking for wealthy men that would pay them two grand for a night. You meet a girl at the bar and the first question out of her mouth is where you live and what do you do. I did have fun though telling one girl I play for the NY Roadrunners. She was all star-struck... Stupid broad, there's no such team as NY Roadrunner. Besides that the doorman was cool and the decor is nice.

DO NOT PLAN AN EVENT HERE.

we made a reservation for my friend's bachelorette party (read: once in a lifetime event) and were told MULTIPLE times that we would (a) not have to wait at the door and (b) everyone in our party would get in. this is the main reason we chose 1 oak, as a smooth party was our biggest concern. upon our early (11 pm) arrival, they acknowledged our party and said they would be ready for us in 20 minutes, so we killed time having a drink at Park. when we came back, the doorman didn't let us in and denied even knowing of our reservation (clearly the first person we spoke to when we arrived not only knew about it, but was expecting us). we were a group of 10 cute girls, tastefully dressed, no bachelorette gear in sight. rumor has it that the club was empty at this point, except for the 3 old men the doorman let in for the "private party" the doorman claimed was happening.

this is UNACCEPTABLE. they could have easily told us, in advance, that they don't take bachelorette parties, or large groups, or females, or people under 30, or whatever. but having us actually show up on my friend's one big night only to be turned away is completely ridiculous.

so, ***DO NOT PLAN AN EVENT HERE UNLESS YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT WHETHER THE EVENT ACTUALLY HAPPENS.*** this probably rules out most planned events.

additionally, judging by the caliber of people i did see enter the club, i am not sure how much i would want to go at any other point. NJ gold-diggers would probably enjoy it, though.

You do have to know someone to get in but it's so worth it. The crowd is gorgeous, the decor is great and the music is good. I had an amazing time at 1 Oak.

I heard so much about this venue but after i went to check out last saturday. pretty lame. the decor is ok but the music was very commercial and tacky and the crowed was awful. fat guys buying bottles and thinking they are cool. go to the box at least you get a show for your money.
