119 Bar:
Ever wonder where a pre-Sex Pistols Sid Vicious would’ve hung out in NYC? At 119 Bar you can find a guy with a huge Afro wearing a “Free Mimi” t-shirt playing pool with a frail bespeckled guy wearing plaid pants with lots of chains and buckles. In this urban utopia all are truly welcomed, and there’s not a whiff of poseurs or über-affected artistes in the air. Although there are no fancy drinks, and the deconstructed rustic décor is minimalist. Charming touches like the 1938 Frank Sinatra mugshot hanging behind the bar and the ill-placed brown leather sofa create a comfortably cheeky good time where you can muse about the basic tenets of veganism or that New Pornographers album. Open Mon.-Fri. 4pm-4am and Sat.-Sun. 6pm-4am.
A short stumble from the Fillmore, so great place to meet before/after a show. Totally non-pretentious, good mix of clientele, great bartender, generous shots.

Awesome
ripped up couches & fabulous music; a go-to place late night with your girlfriends if you're feeling a mixture of Whitney Houston & Joan Jett.
