You can call it mid-summer restlessness—while you anticipate the next weekend barbecue, you’ve wasted away a day of sunshine by sitting in your overly air-conditioned office. It’s too much to bear to then have to a) sweat it out at your overly air-conditioned gym, b) sweat it out at the laundromat, or c) go home and watch reruns of Rob and Big for the thousandth time. No people, it’s time to make the most of your work week and flex your social skills. You work hard for the money, so here’s an easy Monday-Friday party itinerary to add to your little black book.
Mondays @ Butter
415 Lafayette St. (Astor Pl. & 4th St.)
NoHo 212.253.2828
Competitors clamor to dethrone the Godfather of Monday evenings, otherwise known as Butter. But even with rumors circulating that this weekly party, once known as the mainstay for jet-setters, is dwindling in popularity, Monday nights at Butter still reign supreme.
Tuesdays @ Marquee
289 10th Ave. (26th & 27th Sts.)
Chelsea 646.473.0202
As of late, Marquee has sort of lost its edge in regards to exclusivity and mystique, except for one night. “Tuesday Baby Tuesday” brings out the crowd, fashionistas, and industry peeps alike—the people who got this place off the ground and running in the first place. Relish in its weekly glory while it’s still hot.
Wednesdays @ Cain
544 W. 27th St. (10th & 11th Aves.)
Chelsea 212.947.8000
With occasional appearances from DJ Steve Aoki and model Tyson Beckford, the weekly “Bunny Chow” party is an evening that gets top props on nightlife blogs. Go and show your face, and just maybe you’ll see it in the next day’s Page Six or on LastNightsParty.Com.
Thursdays @ Santos Party House
100 Lafayette St. (@ Walker St.)
TriBeCa 212.714.4646
With the American dollar slipping, the influx of Euros in NYC nightclubs seems more prolific than H&M. Forget the gawking, picture-taking, buttery crossaints-eating tourists, Thursday nights mean Paris is in the house, with Ete ‘d’ Amour at Santos. Expect drinking, a rotating weekly DJ lineup spinning French house, plenty of dancing, and if you’re lucky, some French kissing.
Fridays @ Studio B
259 Banker St. (Meserole & Calyer Sts.)
Greenpoint 718.389.1880
After a long week—of partying hard, hopefully—there’s still room for more debauchery. Resident DJs Eamon Harkin and Rok One, with guests here and there like A-Trak or Crystal Castles, throw down their weekly Friday night “Fun” party for hipsters and dance queens (bonus points if you can tell the difference). Work off the stress of the weekly grind, and work up a sweat. Cool off on the recently opened rooftop, where the palm trees will have you feeling like your on vacation for longer than two days.
