How did you end up getting into the restaurant business with Downstairs Diner, and can you tell us about the nightlife-inspired menu and the association with Upstairs?
J: Downstairs sprouted from the Upstairs (obviously and literally). We had the first floor space of Bari and decided that the area was lacking a late-night restaurant destination. The menu and dish titles (like the Wass Pizza Margarita, named for Marquee's doorman) are a play on some of the more well-known nightlife personality and brands in New York.
