Is your beer belly bloat (the true sign of the end of summer) giving you the blues? Well, whenever we get depressed, we just find a new drink to lift our spirits and make us forget our troubles...and then subsequently forget the rest of the night. Oops. Peeps, meet your new favorite adult beverage for fall—cider. Contrary to popular belief, cider ain’t for pussies—its alcohol content is higher than beer, and it doesn’t taste like watered down "you know what." Having a sweet toof never felt so good!
Get In Cider
Woodchuck Cider
Sure, the little animal on the bottle looks cute and soft, but this hard cider has a wicked bite. From Granny Smith (how you like them apples!) to their most recent addition, Raspberry, this tart brew will have you puckering up with the first sip. Be forewarned, though—after a six pack, you’ll probably be rocking your O face.
Strongbow Cider
Posh and Becks may have not lived up to the hype, but you can renew your love of imports with Strongbow, the UK’s most popular cider. This is one of the only alcoholic beverages that tastes better in a can than in a bottle—just trust us on this one. Still not convinced? Strongbow is produced with a Royal Warrant, which means it’s supplied directly to the Royal Family. So basically, the Queen is getting shitfaced on this stuff. 'Nuff said.
Ace Cider
Who needs a full deck when you have four aces…and a joker? For those who relish that variety is the spice of life, choose from Ace’s five unique flavors: Apple, Pear, Apple Honey, and Berry, which is a mixture of raspberry, blackberry, and strawberry juice added to fermented apples. Their newest jam, the Joker, is the first champagne-like cider. Pop it like it’s hot!
Original Sin Cider
Leave it to a New Yorker to develop a “superior” (our translation: higher alcohol content) cider. With 6 percent alcohol by volume, it clocks in slightly above the other contenders. After a few pints, you’ll be confessing your dirtiest deeds to no one in particular, but really isn’t that just like any other night at the bar?
