With a name like Forty Deuce you’d think there’s a new malt liquor on the market, but even better—it’s a burlesque house coming soon to Kenmare Street in NoLita. Owner Ivan Kane’s original is in Vegas.
It might be redundant to say that Graffiti is coming to the East Village, but in Jehangir Mehta’s case it is. Mehta combined a wine bar with a bistro and bakery to form this just-opened spot. Oh there’s also a children’s party space. Maybe the graffiti will come in the form of Crayolas once the kids get loopy on sugar.
Chef Keith Harry dishes out a classic bar menu in the old home of Marylou’s this December at Zeppelin in the West Village. Let’s hope it fares a little better than the Hindenburg.
Williamsburg has lots of asymmetrical haircuts, but huckleberries? Huh? Danny Meyer's protégés took their experience over the river to open Huckleberry Bar, a garden spot that often has DJs. Bet the neighbors will be happy (no, we aren’t being facetious). Open any day now.
It will be Octoberfest all year long when Radegast Hall & Biergarten opens in Williamsburg with a retractable roof. Coming in…we hope…October.
Just opened: A drive-in movie theatre in NYC? What’s next, TV on your phone…oh wait. It’s true! Twice a night, up to six people can experience their own 50s drive-in movie experience at DRV-IN. BYOHD (Bring Your Own Hanging Dice), but car included. We also praised the toxic Greenpoint for it’s additions with The Parish Diner and The Gutter. At one, we got rib-stickin’ good eats, and the other we played with big balls (it’s bowling you perv). We sampled kangaroo and Russell Crowe’s favorite shite at Midtown’s The Australian. And we thought about what it would be like to have money at Grayz. This Midtown spot used to belong to a Rockefeller. The Blue Seats scored a victory despite its $50 an hour charge on the Lower East Side. Hey, anything to watch the game at a choice location.
