| Now that it hasn’t rained in three whole days, there’s finally a chance to get caught up on your summer boozing schedule. But with Labor Day creeping up, there's not enough season left to just sit on a stoop amid the hot smell of garbage on Orchard St., waiting for Bia Garden to open (we’re hearing next Monday now). So we suggest you slather on the SPF 45 and enjoy these must-try activities before the sun sets on summer, or, more accurately, before it starts dumping again. |

Set Sail: Fire on the Water hosts a Wednesday Night Samba Cruise aboard The Queen of Hearts, vintage paddlewheel craft. The ride features dance performances (and on 9/23, live samba), hookahs on the open deck, a bumping dance party in the brig and plenty of opportunities to sing about how you never thought you'd be on a boat. With a good-looking crowd and plenty of caipirinhas to loosen vital dance muscles, this is the three-hour tour you wish would've ended up on Gilligan’s Island.
Wednesdays through 9/23, 6:30-10pm, from Pier 40, West Side Highway @ W. Houston St. |

Dance Outdoors: We’re happy to report that the Warm-Up Parties at PS1 in Long Island City—an awesome celebration of art, sun and world class DJs—are going stronger than ever. There are two left for the season, so in this case, the thought of going "back to school" isn't at all depressing. Or, with a long weekend coming up, we're also game for Turntables on the Hudson’s one last SUNday Getaway on Governor’s Island. Afterward, we'll finally be able to add “former military base” to that list of places we’ve danced. Poorly.
PS1: Saturdays through 9/5, 2-9pm, 22-25 Jackson Ave. @ 46th Ave., Long Island City
Turntables on the Hudson: 9/6 @ The Water Taxi Beach on Governor’s Island |

Hit the Roof(top): When it comes to a rooftop rendezvous, we have three requirements. First, don't just give us some outside area—we need a bona fide room, er, roof, with a view. Second, give us elevation. Third, even a glorified porch needs decor. Requirements in mind, it's no surprise that two of our favorite rooftops are both in midtown: AVA Lounge (who can say no to such Jetsons-meets-Jeffersons chic?) and The Empire Hotel Rooftop (wave hello to Central Park). They're both pricey, but we're worth it.
AVA Lounge: 210 W. 55th St., @ Broadway, 212.956.7020
Empire Hotel Rooftop: 44 W. 63rd St., @ Broadway, 212.956.3313 |

Go for a Stroll: These days, pub crawls tend to involve things like snuggies or Santa Suits (and the seething contempt of bartenders). That’s why we're thinking a good ol’ fashioned beer tour might be the way to go. Enter the Brewed in Brooklyn Walking Tour a three and a half hour trek through the back streets of Williamsburg, where we'll learn all about the rise and fall (and return) of the borough’s brewing industry. Plus, there's um, beer.
Saturdays and Sundays at 11:45 a.m., 79 N. 11th St. @ Wythe Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn
