Castello di Borghese is the North Fork’s oldest vineyard. It was bought by Philadelphians, Prince Marco and Princess Ann Marie Borghese in 1999. Castello di Borghese was awarded the Best Winery in Long Island Editor’s Choice Award by The Long Island Press. The owners have been known to drop in on, or even lead a tasting. Among the medals that their award-winning wines have picked up include the 2009 Best of Appellation Award (BOA) double Gold for their 2003 Merlot and Chardonnay 2007. They do offer a Winemakers Walk ($15), which is a detailed tour of their vineyard.
