| Night owls who give a hoot about big clubs are falling beak over talons about Nest. Designed by Steve Lewis, whose resume boasts Marquee, Butter, and Home, among others, this tri-floor newbie has already gone to the birds, and it just opened last night. Chandeliers wrapped in feathers illuminate vastly different levels with varying vibes. Downstairs, a laidback lounge of exposed brick walls is highlighted by a metallic nest sculpture. The lively, red-hued middle floor revolves around a high-energy DJ booth built to inspire tail-shaking. Figuratively, the streamlined top floor is somewhere between the lower two - a little loungey and a little clubby, with light blue walls and honey-colored wood combining models and bottles. Somewhat breaking theme, former Union Pacific chef David Coleman's offerings will be more surf and turf than aerial when it launches in a couple of weeks. Nest, 215 W. 28th St. (7th & 8th Aves.), Chelsea, 212.760.6378 |
