Zip It
September 24, 2008
Your memories (and nightmares) of New York Fashion Week are probably still fresh, but we ask you to think back on the week and remember the trends that dominated the runways. We may have been mad for plaid, but it’s safe to say we’re even more jazzed about the exposed zippers decorating everything from shoes to sweaters. Besides, what’s not to love about so many more chances to get unzipped?

Ride It Out
It’s about time the equestrian look got some edge. Ride (or rock out) in style in Diba’s Candace Boot (1)($74.95).

Off the Chain
Rachel Roy’s Off-the-Shoulder Tunic Dress (2)($588.75 on sale) is diverse enough to take you from a demure day at office to a debauched night out on the town. Can’t argue with those options!

Sit Tight
Not digging those baggy pegged jeans that Katie Holmes has (unfortunately) made so popular lately? Pull on Alexander Wang’s Flare Leg Jeans (3)($375), spotted on an O.D.M. (off-duty model) at the Marc Jacobs show. Not only will you be inspired to party like a rock star—you’ll actually look like one, too.

Full Coverage
If you’re looking for a little more coverage once the temperature drops, slip on Development’s Exposed Zipper Dress (4)($237 on sale) over a pair of leggings or bare legs with booties—if you dare.

Subtlety is Key
We love S Loves C by Spring & Clifton’s Raglan Zipper Sweater (5)($78) because it delves into the trend without trying too hard- that one little zipper adds that extra touch to an otherwise plain sweater.

Jaywalking
Designer Jay Godfrey is the one to watch when it comes to the zipper trend. He’s incorporated them into so many of his looks for fall, making these otherwise ladylike looks just a wee bit racy. Zip into this Knit Zipper Jacket (6)($395) for an updated biker look.
