It used to be that our only options for tights were sheer or opaque and black or “nude”— which was often more of a weird Barbie leg color. But trendsetters have gotten a little more creative: First, there were colored tights—maroon on the more conservative end, and electric blue for more daring types. And this spring, stepping out in a pair of lace tights is the new fashion must.
Free Love
We like the modern touch of these
footless tights (1) from Free People ($38). The floral pattern is girly without being too uptight, and with a good pair of flats they would look just right for work.
Mod, Mod World
It takes a brave woman to don a pair of blue crocheted tights, but if you’ve got the cojones, this
adorable pair (2) from Mod Cloth ($13.99) might just be for you. The powder blue color is a great option for spring.
Snake Charmers
The snaky print on these
Nordstrom tights (3) ($15) makes them look sorta fancy, and they would look perfect with a black pencil skirt and a pair of patent leather pumps. They’re perfect for neutrals-loving stylistas, as they only come in black or gray.
Worship-Worthy
It doesn’t matter when you last went to church—you’ll still be inspired by the pretty, pretty print of these
“Stained Glass” tights (4) ($14) from Urban Outfitters.
Walk the Falke
These
upscale tights (5) from Falke ($60) will add a little pizzazz to any outfit. They’re thin enough that you won’t have to worry about adding bulk to your legs, and the print is perfect for day or night—especially the eggplant color.
Top This
It’s hard not to be mesmerized by these whimsical
diamond lace tights (6) from Topshop ($20). The Victorian pattern might remind you of the days of yore, but not if you pair them with a modern miniskirt like
this one.
Pick a Color
Urban Outfitters does it again: these
Lace Crochet Tights (7) ($14) are perfect for spring. They’re also available in black, kimono red, and purple—but at this price, you don’t have to pick a favorite—we say get all of them!
