Terrible event! The vendors appeared random for the most part and really didn’t fit in with the theme. Where were the wine charms, bottle openers and oh yeah the wine? This was my third Shecky’s Event and I envisioned more of a wine pairing with the “tasting.” Very dissapointing!!

I was very disappointed in the toasting and tastings. There were too many dessert stations and not enough food stations. When we left we had to go get something to eat because we were still hungry. Also, if you tried to use your tickets for the same station they wouldnt let you do it right then. They said you would have to come back in a little while. We left with so many extra tickets. This event was not worth it at all. We were so disappointed.

Seriously, this event was the WORSE Shecky’s event that I have ever been to in the last 5 years. The event was badly disorganized and was such a disappointment. I had paid $40 for 5 glasses of wine, that were barely filled to an 1 oz. Plus only one wine was enjoyable. The class ran over 45 minutes late and we (3 of us) were rushed out of the class. The class, which is what we were paying for, was ok—decent advice but seriously ran less than 15 minutes.
Plus there was NO cheese whatsoever to consume. THe only item provided with the wine was 5 crackers—SERIOUSLY, crackers?

    The other samplings were awful.

Plus the Sheckys staff was rude and demeaning to attendees. The venue was poorly set up at the building, which had nice space but was poorly laid out for attendees. There were so many times when you would knock into others because there was simply NO place to move. A true waste of money. SHAME ON YOU, SHECKYS for Decetively Marketing and POORLY Running this event.

Overall, I had a pretty good time at the Toasts & Tastings. It wasn’t their best event by any means, but it was a new idea and I hope they do another, just a bit more organized next time around.

I’ll still be at Girls Night Out at Beauty Night Out! :)

I noticed they posted a $20 discount notice, however, has anyone received information regarding the free tickets. The CFO (he would not tell us his name)and Barbara told about 15 of us we would receive free tickets to the next Shecky event becuase they over sold the wine tasting we were suppose to take part in. Has anyone received information?

I will have to say that I do agree with some of the comments made about last night’s event. First, I want to say that I did end up having fun despite the fact that there were major flaws. There was not a lot “to taste.” I did not know that I would have to enter a line to get into the venue. I did not understand the purpose of the tickets. It seemed like some vendors were unclear what to do with it. I was in the last class, which was not my choice, so I did not have the waiters rushing me. I like the concept of the event that is why I decided to go but I hope that you make major improvements if you attempt to do this again.

I attended this event last night and it was a major disappointment, especially since I’m such a loyal Shecky’s girl and encouraged so many newbies to join me for the toast and tastings. Not a good 1st impression and potentially the last for many who came away feeling cheated. First off, the wine classes were overbooked and severely delayed. The planners allocated 5 minutes to clear out each class and set up for the next. HUH? Who’s the brain who thought that would be enough transition time? By the end of the night, classes were almost an hour behind… anyone who signed up for a later class was screwed and most left without doing their wine tasting.

Now let’s talk about the “tastings”. There were like 15 food vendors, 75% were dessert vendors. Only 2 savory stations (which were admittedly good). NO artisenal cheeses, 2 meager cocktail stations (which qualified as a “tasting”), NO wine outside of the wine tasting, everything else were sweets… excluding the “special chocolate station” promised in the promo. To add insult to injury, one of the cupcake vendors started charging $1 for their cupcake samples. Ridiculous! Oh, and while I love pop chips… they’d hardly qualify as a “gourmet treat” at a tasting event.

Overall, wonderful concept… poor execution. Don’t know that I’d ever attend one of these again, but suggestions for next time Shecky’s team:

    - More vendors!!! And an equal balance between sweet and savory vendors. People should NOT leave your event with more than half of their tasting tickets in hand.

    - Allocate adequate time to transition and prep the wine tasting room between classes to avoid delays.

    - Either get a larger venue or sell less tickets so that you can offer longer classes instead of shoving ppl into 25 min time slots. Perhaps a 45 min class (minimum). And the tasting should offer both red and white, not either/or. 3 reds and 3 whites should do the trick.

    - Get vendors who understand the main goal is to offer us a tasting of their treats, not to hock their wares.

    - Pop Chips, Honest Tea, and Skinny Water DO NOT qualify as “gourmet” treats at a tasting event. No problem with having them there to advertise their product and provide samples, but they shouldn’t be qualified as ticket taking vendors.

Get it together Shecky’s team. This could be an awesome event if you plan and execute properly! Good luck!

    Melissa:

Sadly I must agree with most of the reviews on here….last night’s Toasts & Tastings was HORRIBLE!!! The event itself did not coincide with how it was advertised. I assumed there would be small hors d’oeuvres with our wine tasting. I was very disappointed to find out there would only be crackers. In addition, most of the vendors consisted of sweet treats. Don’t get me wrong; I love sweets as much as the next girl but come on! The $40+ ticket should have afforded a larger selection of heartier choices and not JUST TWO. By the way, on a positive note, the chefs who prepared the salmon ceviche and the chicken salad cones…KUDOS!!! Both were SPECTACULAR!!
In reference to the scheduling of the tastings, I also was pushed out of my 7:30 class due to it being “oversold”. Did you not know in advance how many could be accomodated in each class???? When we were told that we would have to go into the 8 p.m. (which began at about 8:45) class we were not informed that it was RED WINE CLASS by the young lady who registered us. My group purposely chose white wine as we are not fans of red. Unfortunately, we did not discover it was a red wine class until moments before being seated in the class. We stayed because we really did not want to wait an extra hour for the next white class.
This was my first Shecky’s event and I gotta say I’m really unsure if I’ll be going to any others.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the “toasts and tastings” last night….
It was the worst wine event I’ve been to. The glasses at the tastings were FILTHY – you can literally see the lip prints/smears on the glassses. And the bus boys IMMEDIATELY took the glasses away from you even if you were still tasting the wines. I thought this event was poorly organized and the food vendors were very limited.

I personally had a good time with my girls at last night’s event. I went expecting what the name of the event promised, “toasts and tastings”, and got those things! I found the staff to be professional and knowledgeable, the vendors to be cordial and inviting and thoroughly enjoyed myself during the wine flight. I know this was the first event of its kind so for the future I might recommend having the wines featured in the tasting class to be available for purchase elsewhere in the event, like with the other samples. I love to attend Shecky’s events and would definitely attend a similar event in the future!

I was extremely disappointed with this event. Having read the notes from the previous days event about the dirty glasses I thought I would have better luck if I chose the first time slot. WRONG. The glasses were filthy so I didn’t do any tasting. We left after 15 minutes. I felt like I was at a low rated carnival with the whole ticket process for the tiniest piece of food. Will never do this event again.

Wine tasting with no cheese? Not well organized. You were locked into either the red or the white wine tasting but not both. It went too fast and you were not able to enjoy or savor any of the wines because you were being rushed. A lot of sweet treats and they were stingy about giving samples (I mean tiny bites) and bearly any savory treats.

Could be a great event if organized and planed out better.
