How did you become a designer?
I suppose it started with Barbie, I was more interested in making her clothes than in playing with her. I went to college to become a pattern drafter as I was fascinated with the “how.” I worked int he fashion industry and then as a costumer in theatre and it evolved from there.

What’s your inspiration?
Inspiration comes from many places! It’s sometimes surprising how an idea for a corset can come from a single bead or a pair of boots. Corsets lend themselves to lingerie, accessories, and evening wear, so there are a lot of ways to interpret them and create them. We’ve used everything from brown suede to vintage silks. They're incredibly versatile!

What’s your hometown?
Toronto, Canada

If you had to pick a favorite design from your collection, what would it be?
I created a vintage blue silk corset with cream ribbon trim and delicate grey lace. It’s a $1,200 piece that is totally impractical but pretty and romantic. Most of our pieces are designed to be more functional but this one was purely a design indulgence. It reminds me of just what an art corset making is.

What are you wearing right now?
Jean, cream turtleneck, brown belt, brown boots, brown sweater…no corset at the moment!
