How did you become a designer?
I started designing jewelry when I was 12 and sold my pieces to a local store in Virginia at 14. Making jewelry then became a hobby throughout college, grad school and while I worked at a New York magazine. It was a great way to be creative and also to supplement my New York lifestyle. When my husband and I had our first child in 2005, I realized that it was the perfect job with our new baby. Today, both my husband and I work full time for Ktcollection and we love it.

What’s your inspiration?
Part of the reason I developed a love for jewelry is because I love to travel. I grew up in a family that couldn't stay put, and I've always adored hunting down unique pieces at every stop. Today, we still try to jet off somewhere as often as Ktcollection and our two kids allow. India is our favorite stop: The shocking mix of colors is fabulous inspiration for mixing metals and jewels. Next stop: Hong Kong and Indonesia. Stay posted to see what we bring back!

What’s your hometown?
New York City, NY

If you had to pick a favorite design from your collection, what would it be?
I love my lariats which are simple and can be wrapped around and worn so many different ways. They are timeless and go perfectly with everything.

What are you wearing right now?
A black top with jewelry and a scarf—pretty much what I always wear.
