I agree with @AtlDimeDiva, everyone should wear sunscreen. I’ve worked in the skincare/plastic surgery field for 10+ years and it’s sobering to see what the sun’s rays can do over time. I use Jan Marini’s Antioxidant Face Protectant and I love it. I’ve also used Nia-24 and think it’s fabulous too.

I think that even if you are open and honest with each other, there should still be a sense of privacy. Guys are guys and will act like guys with their friends, and girls are girls and will share girl things with their friends. Such things can be taken out of context when read in a certain manner. Privacy does not necessarily mean keeping things from each other, it means respect.

Post: It’s 10 O’Clock, Do You Know Where Your Husband Is?

The timing of this piece couldn’t be better for me! I’ve been married a year to a dude that was my friend first, so our social world melding has never been an issue. I’d like to say we’ve been pretty social and we’ve always been a “couple” in most of our friends’ lives, so it’s always been pretty easy to show up to shenanigans as a duo or individually. So yes, the wedding bells chimed just over a year ago and recently, my boy decided to purchase Yankee season tix (something I could totally have been a part of…had I not been a die-hard Mets fan, oh yes, a mixed marriage).

The tickets were bought and then low and behold, a month or so later, the third piece of love and marriage came into play—the baby carriage. I shall be spending my summer (blissfully… maybe) bloated while he will be having as one friend quipped “the best summer of his life.” While first indignant that I don’t get my own “farewell” summer in the same sense, I’m actually super-stoked that fate got him those tickets. Reasonable and fair fella that he is, I can’t see him purchasing them had he even KNOWN about the pregnancy let alone when a baby is fully in the picture, which only makes me want him to have this chance more. This transition is a fairly huge one and I don’t think anyone will ever judge if I need to blow off steam or need some time with my buds. So I think the same should go for him. My greatest fear is to become the dreaded couch couple too, and I think setting the tone of our new lifestyle now could help us avoid becoming TOO boring.

I think what makes this work for us above all is that I trust him! His going out is just to see the damn Yankees, not to forget his life and shirk all responsibility. I would also understand that folks might not be too vibealicious with their significant other going out on the town solo, but in most cases, I wouldn’t be surprised to discover a lack of trust in that relationship.

Just one knocked-up broad’s opinion!

Post: Should You Live Together Before You Get Married?

Comment: Wow, I stumbled across this just checking my email. It has been very insightful because me and my partner have been talking about moving in together. Our children are all grown and out of the house. We talked about him moving in with me until next year when we’ve had a chance to work on saving money for a house.

We have decided to get married but I’m in no rush for it. I have not lived with a man other than when I was married so this is going to be a huge adjustment for me. I’m really nervous because I know how moody I can get after he’s been here for several days as it is. Now that the kids are gone, I’m not used to having people in my space all the time. But I do miss him terribly when he goes home.

I love him dearly and we have a wonderful time together, chilling or otherwise. You all have been a great help and it really gives me something to think about. He’s 50 and I’m 10 years younger and realize we need more living space, hence the saving for a house.

Comment: Make recycling and reusing a part of your everyday lifestyle—never throw out bottles, cans, newspapers or other items that can be easily recycled. Invest in a stainless steel water bottle to avoid the use of many of those bottles in the first place (greenfeet.com* has great choices, as well as lots of other products to help us conserve resources).

Use reusable dishes and containers instead of buying food in Styrofoam and lots of packaging.

Don’t throw out electronics—lead, cadmium, and other heavy metals and toxins leak out in landfills and seep into waterways and soil. Look on earth911.com for places to recycle numerous items near your zip code. In NYC, there are “electronics recycling days” coming up this weekend, and these are held every few months. Check out: lesecologycenter.org.

Remember, we can all do little things that add up to make a big difference!
