Michelle Phoenix’s small shop, bracketed by high-end antique stores, enlivens a rather boring stretch of Huron Ave. (a nearby bakery and lunch spot may provide another excuse to visit this neighborhood, located just far enough outside Harvard Square to be a bit of a nuisance). Both Phoenix’s personality and the bright paint she chose for the walls are sunny; hand and foot care ranges from $10-$45. The child-friendly spa has two manicure and two pedicure stations, and carries a small selection of hand- and foot-care lines. The pedicure stations are real upholstered armchairs separated by a coffee table spread with magazines and are occupied alternately by ladies who lunch, elderly pillars of society, and new mothers. As no self-respecting Cambridge business would be complete without a touch of political correctness, Wet Paint’s website includes a link to MoveOn.org.
