Cheers to Oktoberfest with a Bavarian Beer Bash
It’s finally Oktoberfest season and that means one thing: it’s time to party it up! Planning an Oktoberfest-themed bash is simple and easy, mainly because the top item on the list is beer. The German theme can be as integrated as much as you want, from a lederhosen-only dress code to authentic beer steins to some simple Bavarian bites and brews. Whether you’re looking to recreate the craziness that occurs at the yearly Munich fest or just have a good beer-fueled time with your buds, our Oktoberfest party ideas will have your guests saying a big “guten tag!” to Germany as soon as they walk through the door!

One of the most important things when planning an Oktoberfest bash is to set the mood! In other words, since you can’t actually go to Germany, bring Germany to you. That means setting up long tables with benches (preferably outside) and hanging blue and white banners to create the biergarden atmosphere of Deutschland’s Oktoberfest. Adorn each table with a blue and white checkered tablecloth topped with beer pitchers and mugs (absolute musts!) so guests can feel free to grab a seat and socialize. Accents like bowls set out for beer caps and vintage beer bottles encourage guests to focus on the main event at hand: boozing! To maximize hilarity and authenticity, make up signs with useful German phrases such as “Drink as if there’s no tomorrow = Saufen wie ein Loch” and “I’m really drunk = Ich bin blau.” Lederhosen optional!
