10 Child Stars Who Didn’t Turn Into Hot Messes

Can we take a minute to think about how long we’ve all had a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio? DiCaprio’s been making us swoon since his Tiger Beat teen days on “Growing Pains” (ok, so Luke Brower was annoying as hell, but Leo was gosh darn cute!), followed up by impressive and equally crush-inducing roles in flicks like The Basketball Diaries, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and Romeo + Juliet. But it was his turn in—duh—Titanic that made him a household name and made us never let go (ha!) of our crush. Though he was the face of a global phenomenon as Jack Dawson and had plenty of money, opportunities and, likely, women being thrown at him, DiCaprio didn’t go the pretty-faced party boy route, instead choosing to prove his acting chops in dramatic roles in Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can and The Departed. And acting chops he’s got—the three-time Oscar nominee is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, which luckily for us means even more screen time of this handsome face!

Post a CommentI had no idea Katherine Heigl was a child star! Actually, i haven’t really cared for her much. Nothing against her, just not my favorites. After reading this, though, I definitely have much more respect and admiration for her and her work!

I know I’m late, but another child actors and one of my favorites is Reese Witherspoon……oh and not sure, but I haven’t heard anything bad about Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster)

What about Kirk Cameron? He probably turned out better than any of the child actors.

The problem is the news likes to focus on the negative. I would guess that the majority of childhood stars have “gone good” but you only hear about the bad ones over and over and over again. This list should be “100 child stars who didn’t turn into hot messes.”
