What NOT To Wear to a Wedding

Jeans

Denim may be chic this season with all of the different sleek styles, but no matter how nice you think your denim look is, it is never appropriate for a wedding. Well, unless the bride requests denim of course. But generally speaking, weddings are for cocktail attire, sundresses or black tie dress code-worthy gowns. Not jeans. It doesn’t matter if they are high-waisted, doesn’t matter if they are waxed and it doesn’t matter if you wear heels. Park your jeans next to your flip flops when you are headed to the next wedding!

I went to a Mid-West wedding a few years ago (2007) and in the back of my mind I figured conservative, probably almost everyone will be wearing black (formal affair). And I was right! Unfortunately, my Western culture begged me to wear color, so I did, and then I felt embarrassed! So find out the region you are going to and stick with their brand of fashion, and you won’t feel like a goof like I did!

No black or white at a wedding. The LBD is a classic, but mourning colors have no place at a wedding!!

I had someone (a cousin) wear a black short, almost skanky dress with hot pink heels. To my other cousins wedding rehearsel her shirt said Do I make you look fat? And my other cousin is a big girl, I thought that was very inappropriate.

You know, I have no problem with people wearing black to weddings. I had several people wear black to mine. I didn’t think it was bad at all! Now, I did have one cousin wear white. Normally I would have agreed that this is a no-no, but she was giving us her beach house for a week for the honeymoon, so…honestly, she could have worn anything she wanted!

The little black dress is so classic, why not wear it to the wedding?

What’s better: flip flops or bare feet? (I prefer the latter, but don’t think it matters).

Certain people can wear pant suits.
