Calling all rocker girls! Shecky’s hit up the Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne Spring 2013 runway show at Style360 during New York Fashion Week and the show was nothing short of a punk rock good time. From the colorful fringe bangs and the high, bright-hued messy buns, the skull patterns to lace ‘n’ leather combos, the soon-to-be Mrs. Chad Kroeger showed us that her pop punk style is here to stay, getting her rock on for a star-studded crowd that included Kendall and Kylie Jenner (the younger Kardashian modeled in the show), Adrienne Bailon and Jonathan Cheban. We got the chance to gab with lead hairstylists Victor Castro and Gregory Alan after the show to find out just how they used Salon Grafix products to create those perfectly messy high buns and fabulous fringe bangs with a not-so-subtle pop of color.

Q: What was your inspiration for the runway looks today?
A: We went with the punk rock theme of the clothes. We used a lot of color in the hair to bring out the colors included in the clothes and took the trendy top knot to the next level.
Q: How did you create the huge messy buns and colorful fringe?
A: For the fringe, we used clip on bangs made of human hair. The human hair blends easily with the models natural hair and they were all dyed to match the various colors the models would be wearing. To create the massive high buns, we used a sponge donut to get the round shape.
Q: What products did you use?
A: We used Salon Grafix Chromologica hair spray to give the models the ultimate hold and a glossy shine without making the hair too stiff or sticky. The best part of this spray is that it gives the hair sheen along with the perfect hold that kept the girls buns in place. We wanted the buns to be messy, but we also needed them to stay in place.
Q: What are the major hair trends that you are seeing for the fall?
A: This fall, the hair is raw and organic; a lot of girls are choosing to go the natural route. There is a big less-is-more feel with great texture. Braids are big, and there’s lots of “sombre” coloring, subtle ombre.
