Summer simply isn’t complete with that campfire classic, the s’more. In the eternal words of The Sandlot‘s Ham “You’re killing me Smalls” Porter, the sweet sandwich is as simple as it is scrumptious: “First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham. Then you roast the ‘mallow. When the ‘mallows flaming, you stick it on the chocolate. Then cover with the other end. Then you scarf.” In honor of National S’mores Day, we’ve rounded up 10 ways to take the summertime staple from between those graham crackers and put those nostalgic flavors of childhood into everything from cupcakes to cookies, milkshakes to martinis and, yes, even pizza. With ridiculously delicious recipes like these, you’ll definitely be asking for s’more of all of them!
Chocolate, marshmallow and graham crackers are pretty freaking special all on their own, but combine them with our eternal baked good beloved the cupcake and you’ve got us hook, line and sinker! These S’mores Cupcakes from The Pastry Affair begin with a crunchy graham cracker base made of graham cracker crumbles, butter and sugar, that’s then topped with chocolate cupcake batter (the recipe calls for this yummy Malted Chocolate Cupcake mix but your fave chocolate cake recipe will also do the trick!). Now it’s time for the fun part—after getting a sweet coating of chocolate glaze, the cupcake is frosted with marshmallow meringue, torched to toasted perfection!
