We Love Lucy & 5 Fellow Funny Flame-Haired Actresses
Happy birthday Lucy! Today, our favorite rowdy redhead Lucille Ball would have celebrated her 101st birthday and to celebrate the momentous occasion, we’re honoring the grape-stomping, chocolate-chomping, looped-out-on-Vitameatavegamin comedienne who stole America’s hearts in the 1950s on the classic sitcom “I Love Lucy” and still does to this day, and also giving it up to five of our other favorite redheaded comedic actresses who owe more than a little to lovable Lucy!

Lucille Ball

One of the most popular and influential TV stars of the 20th century, Lucille “Lucy” Ball didn’t just make every living room in America explode in riotous laughter each week with her Harpo Marx-miming, star-gazing, ever-scheming ways, but she was also one of the most successful businesswomen in Hollywood history, the first female to ever run a major TV studio, Desilu, being inducted in the National Women’s Hall of Fame and racking up four Emmy wins, after a whopping 13 nominations. The zany comedienne was known for the fiery red mane that would become her screen trademark, first dying her naturally brunette locks in the ’40s for Du Barry was a Lady, and said, “Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with a gorgeous redhead.” That must be true, because everyone in the world fell madly in love with this gorgeous redhead!
