Brooke Burke-Charvet: On Implants, Dancing with the Stars & Juggling It All
“Dancing with the Stars” host, creator of ModernMom.com, author of The Naked Mom, actress/model/dancer and mom to four youngins—is there anything Brooke Burke can’t do? Adding to her laundry list of projects, the brunette beauty’s also introducing the “New You” Visualizer on LoveYourLook.com, a digital tool that allows women to privately upload their photo to a secure site so they can “try on” breast implants of all shapes and sizes, negating that dreaded “what will I look like afterward?!” anxiety that can come pre-op. Brooke took time out of her über busy schedule to chat with Shecky’s about the “New You” Visualizer, how to prep and plan for breast augmentation, gearing up for the next season of “Dancing with the Stars” and more!

What made you get involved with Love Your Look and the “New You” Visualizer”?
The “New You” Visualizer is an amazing tool that I wish was around in my twenties when I first got a breast augmentation. It really takes the mystery out—it shows you what your body will actually look like if you decide to get a boob job and not only that, but the site also has great facts and tips for finding the right doctor, how to prepare for surgery and much more. When it comes to plastic surgery, you want to get your head in the right place. Personally, I think your decision-making process, deciding why you want to do it and really educating yourself, is way more important than what you actually want to have done.
We always hear those Hollywood horror stories about botched plastic surgery—what should women really watch out for when considering breast enhancement surgery?
Personally, it’s not something you should be skimping money on! You should go to a board-certified surgeon, a credible doctor. Before and after photos are key, and you should definitely talk to friends who have had breast augmentation and are happy with their results. You have to do your homework and research, you have to take your time—these are our bodies we’re talking about. The whole Love Your Look campaign is about knowing what you’re doing with your body. You have to be thorough!
Do you have any tips for the post-surgery recovery process?
I must say, I had a pretty darn good, easy experience with recovering, but being a good patient is really important, and following all of your doctor’s instructions during pre-op and post-op, especially not skimping out on those post-op instructions!
Who do you think has the best breast implants in Hollywood?
I’ve found that the people who have great plastic surgery in Hollywood are the ones that you don’t actually know if they had plastic surgery. You can’t automatically tell that they’ve had breast augmentation—”does she have implants, does she not have them?” You know that she looks great, but you’re not 100% sure why. That’s the goal—nobody should be able to tell!
Along with Love Your Look, you’re also a full-time mom and have a full-time career—how do you manage to balance both?
I try. It’s tough. I make my family my priority always, but I’m also really committed to my career. I find a way to do it all—I don’t have an incredible social life, that’s a sacrifice that I make. Most of all, it really helps that the projects I’m involved in kind of all revolve around the “mommy” brand that I have going on, so my family can be a part of it too. It’s all melded into each other pretty organically.
You have so many great things going on right now! What’s next for you?
Next up is “Dancing with the Stars” coming in September, which I’m so excited to be hosting again! Also, I’m doing a six week-long sexy slim down—I’ve got my girlfriend brigade and we’re trying to get in the best shape of our lives on ModernMom.com. Then I’m shooting my next two DVDs with Sony so that women who are also trying to juggle it all can do great workouts at home. Plus, I also have my lingerie line, intiMINT, for all women, whether you want really sexy lingerie or simply pretty everyday underwear. I love that a woman can be wearing even sweatpants but still feel sexy knowing that she has a beautiful piece of lingerie underneath. Women need to feel good, feel beautiful every day—that’s what I’m all about!
