Braids, braids, braids! Wrapped, wrought and woven, braids have been one of the biggest hair trends of summer and whether it’s a fishtail, braided crown or even a Katniss Everdeen-inspired plait, you can take on the trend in a variety of stylish ways. Awaken your creative and flirty side with these eight different braid styles perfect for a day at the pool or for a night out with that new summer fling!

THREE FRENCH BRAIDED BUN

Take your average French braid a step further with the three French braided bun, a must-have style for a night of cocktails with the girls. A little more complicated than most braid styles, look no further than this comprehensive guide courtesy of our friends at StyleBistro.

1. Begin by sectioning out a swath of hair about three inches along the center of the front hairline and running down the middle of the back of the head.
2. French braid this section all the way to the back hairline and use a clip to secure the braid in place.
3. Then, on either side of the head along the temples, create two more French braids. Once all three braids are secured with clips at the nape of the neck, incorporate them into one ponytail and braid it regularly, securing the ends with hair elastic.
4. To finish the look, wind the braid into a bun and use ‘u-shaped’ hair pins to hold it in place.
