Do you think of smog clouds and garbage everywhere? Why else would they call it Dirty Jerz? Well as a born and bred Jersey girl, I’m here to dispel the stereotypes: New Jersey isn’t just the setting for Snooki & co’s debauchery. It’s also the home of Springsteen, Sinatra and it’s named the Garden State for a reason! Still hatin’ on Jersey? A word on “Jersey Shore”: hey New Yorkers! Snooks is from Marlboro, New York, The Situation, Vinny, and Angelina are from Staten Island, J-Wow is from Franklin Square and Ronnie is from the Bronx! With Pauly D being from Rhode Island, only Sammy and Deena are honest-to-goodness Jersey girls, being from Hazlet and New Egypt respectively. We New Jerseyans should be the ones upset!  Hey, it isn’t our fault New York wasn’t fun enough that they had to come down to Jersey for the summer…

Reality: Home to Some of the Greats

The “Jersey Shore” cast, ladies from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and Tara Reid aren’t the only celebrities who have come out of this beautiful state. Ever heard of Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi? You wouldn’t be singing “Born in the USA,” “Dancing in the Dark,” “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” in the bars if it weren’t for these Jersey boys! What about Chairman of the Board Frank Sinatra? Part of the Hoboken Four, this hard-working saloon singer may be known for “New York, New York” but Ol’ Blue Eyes this is a Jersey-born boy through and through. Add to the list of proud Jerseyans funny peeps like Chelsea Handler, Danny DeVito, Queen Latifah, athletes like Derek Jeter and Shaquille O’Neal, musicians from the Jonas Brother to Whitney Houston, and the greatest actress who’s ever lived, Ms. Meryl Streep. Mess with Jersey, and you’ve got a whole mob of big name celebrities chasing after you!
