Chic v. Cheesy Fourth of July Fashions

With Independence Day approaching, we can’t help but be overwhelmed by all of the patriotic paraphernalia filling store shelves. While we love our country just as much as the next all-American girl, we do not love it when it looks like July 4th revelers simply wrapped an American flag around themselves as a makeshift dress! Luckily, this year, the American flag is a trendy staple of the season and we’re no longer required to look like we fell into a red, white, and blue craft bin of stars and stripes to show our patriotic spirit. Check out some chic ways to take American flag fashions from tacky to trendy this July 4th!

-Jade Hall

While the standard American flag button-up might be a common sight on cowboys, it should not be seen on anyone else. It may seem like a good life choice in theory, but in reality it just doesn’t work unless you add a cowboy hat, bolo tie and perhaps a cattle farm. But for the fashionista determined to make this look work, try this Nasty Gal America Shirt ($128 from nastygal.com). The polyester material makes for a light summertime top, and the plunging tail hem makes it modern and perfect for pairing with your favorite all-American girl cutoffs.

I need that demigods tank, perfect for the 4th. Patriotic and a loose fit, it gets pretty humid in DC during the summer and who wants their clothes sticking to them, i’d rather have them blow with the wind. Catch a nice breeze while wearing the demigods tank on the 4th and you’ll definitely be embracing the spirit of the day.

Those platforms are awesome, better than the other pair of shoes. They aren’t cheesy at all, they are super chic and retro!!

I wear the stars and bars tank all the time. Quality, and it’s unisex so everyone can rock it. Patriotic, edgy and comfortable. You can’t go wrong.
