Our beaus get Valentine’s Day, moms get Mother’s Day and dad, Father’s Day, but what about our best friends? Well get ready to shower some lovin’ on your best bud because tomorrow is National Best Friend Day and to celebrate, we’re honoring some of pop culture’s most fabulous female friendships. From classic TV twosomes like Lucy and Ethel, to badass movie BFFs like Thelma and Louise, to real-life celeb best buds like Oprah and Gayle or even Snooki and JWoww (we’re serious!), these lovely ladies remind ya that we get by with a little help from our friends, especially when you have fab friends like these!

Thelma & Louise

A great friend would die for you, but your best friend would do that and kill for you, run from the cops for you, hold up convenience stores for you, escape to Mexico for you and drive off into the Grand Canyon for you. Just ask Thelma (Geena Davis) and Louise (Susan Sarandon), the feisty friends from the 1991 film of the same name. The two shed their formerly sweet Southern selves to be partners in crime, but they’re much more than that, these two are soul sisters. Louise is always there with helpful advice for the more naive Thelma, like watching out for Brad Pitt-esque cowboys in uber tight jeans because they’re always up to no good, while Thelma will take up armed (albeit polite!) robbery to make sure Louise and her are safe. “Let’s not get caught…let’s keep going,” Thelma tells Louise in the film’s final scene, a testament to all this sassy duo’s willing to sacrifice for each other.

I love the Oprah/Gayle friendship, but it’s interesting that you put that one (a real, live friendship) in with fictional ones..

Ok, so you threw J-Woww & Snooki and Amy Poehler & Tina Fey in there as well.

  • Amy Auerbach:

It’s hard for me to delegate the title BFF as everyone is unique and has a different purpose/reason for being in each others lives.

  • OohLaLovie:

    Too cute!
