If you always wanted to go 10,000 leagues under the sea, take a chance as we dive in headfirst with this aquatic beauty guide. Researching the latest and greatest ultramarine and aquatic skincare unearthed these eye-opening beauty facts and deep sea beauty finds that you won’t want to deprive your skin from. From seaweed facial masks to sea salt scrubs to algae-infused moisturizers, your skin will be soft, smooth and beach-ready with this straight-from-the-sea skincare!

Aquatic What?

It might sound like something out of an old pirate’s tale but where did human fascination of sea-based skincare begin? Although we’d like to think aquatic-based beauty has been around for centuries, scientists only began seeing skin results in 60’s and 70’s. “In the late 60′s early 70′s companies such as Phytomer started manufacturing marine based products,” says Julie Van Ameyde founder of Spa Tech Marketing. Now in the 21st century, beauty companies everywhere are monopolizing sea particle benefits.

“There are so many new ingredients finding their way into skincare products these days. This is especially true in the area of botanicals and other natural ingredients. Scientists are tapping into the true power of plants to discover new, high performing skincare ingredients. And the growth in natural ingredients found in the sea is simply an extension of this bigger trend. The sea contains many types of plants that have the ability to thrive in severe conditions. Scientists are looking to these plants as a source to help moisturize, repair and rejuvenate the skin,” says Ron Robinson, cosmetic chemist and founder of BeautyStat.com.
