The Weirdest, Wackiest Wedding Themes Ever

Mayhem ensues this month, and I’m not talking about spring flings or hot Memorial Day vacation spots. May is one of the most popular times for blushing brides to walk down the aisle, and while some opt for a traditional church wedding, others tap into their inner, er, fantasies for the big day. Take out those Kleenex and get ready to cry (from laughter!) because these nuptials aren’t your run-of-the-mill ceremonies—they’re wacky, hilarious, and only done by those whose wedding day dreams are filled with zombies, magic and inherent werewolf howls. Move over, Jacob Black, you aren’t the first to leave an imprint on someone’s heart!

Star Wars

I’ve said it time and time again—I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but to pull off Princess Leia buns on my wedding day may be more trouble than it’s worth, not to mention challenging guests in lightsaber battles would be a bit distracting from reciting my vows. We’re all for classy movie-themed weddings, and while the thought of marrying a Jedi gets me all giddy inside, I still couldn’t walk down the aisle to “Darth Vader’s Theme” and take myself seriously. But I’d definitely attend an Anakin/Padme themed wedding—I’d love to see the two work it out without someone (cough, Anakin) ruining it not just for himself, but for the whole freakin’ galaxy.

They are all extremely odd! They could be birthday party themes even for adults I suppose but never a wedding!

The Super Mario and Nightmare Before Christmas themes are very cool and creative! And as much of an HP and Hello Kitty fan I am, those themes just seemed extremely awkward.

I thought the Hunger Games theme was fun, but the rest look a little silly to me. It’s about the families celebrating, about love, etc etc etc. As said in the article, a wedding shouldn’t look like a little kid’s birthday party.

I’m all for geek weddings, heck im going for a Dr. Who themed ring and cake if i can get it done right, and sure i may not go as extreme as these folks did, but this articles tone, so mean. It’s THEIR day not ours, they clearly wanted it and their friends and family supported it, so just say cheers and don’t screw it up!

However, most of these are ridiculous and taken a bit too far. I can see maybe a “Harry Potter” cake topper – and have seen plenty of Mario Bros. wedding cakes! – but this is just too much!

My friend officiated at a Star Wars-themed wedding. I wasn’t there, but she said it was pretty fun!

Wow! Well all of the cartoon, superhero, movie based themes seem pretty immature to me. They may be memorable. But it’s a wedding people! It’s supposed to be sophisticated, elegant. Now the hunger games pics did actually come out nice. They look like they could be in a wedding catalog or something.

But, that’s just my opinion! :)

I agree about the pics, guesschick. But I also would not want my wedding theme to be based on a novel where children kill each other – as Jinee pointed out.

A Halo themed wedding? No thanks. Now, a Team Fortress themed wedding…

(I kind of liked the superhero wedding… although I wouldn’t go Wonder Woman/Batman, myself… Captain America/Iron (wo)man? Cloak and Dagger? Pete Wisdom and Kitty Pryde?)

And I love that Harry Potter wedding.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ll take the whackiest because some are different but to say weirdiest, I just think that’s rude.

I love all things Halo and i love this idea!! I have many friends who have joked about being married by Master Chief and having a halo themed wedding. My little sister will be adding touches of halo to her upcoming wedding also. I think its fun and shows a little more about the bride and groom and what makes then a fun couple.
